We had such a blessed time at New Salem Church in Pittsboro, NC yesterday! We always enjoy Pastor Chris's messages and we had some wonderful visits with the congregation after the service. One particular conversation has caused me to reflect on my calling as a prayer warrior for the Lord.
This book has been a wonderful tool in praying for my husband Robbie for over 10 years. Each morning I use a chapter as a focus of prayer for him that day. For example, today I prayed about his fears...praying using scripture...that Robbie would be strong and not fearful but to trust in the Lord as his strength and deliverer. There are 30 chapters, so each morning of each month I cover my husband in prayer regarding a specific area of his life. I highly recommend this book as a tool for prayer!! I has been amazing to see answers to prayers made over the years. I believe that praying for our husbands is one of the most important ministries a wife can have. Your husband needs your prayers ladies!! Without them, our husbands are left vulnerable to Satan's attacks, temptations, addictions, stresses and depression. Also, praying diligently for your husband increases your love for him in your heart! We must not grow weary in praying for our husbands!
Do you have any tools or strategies for praying for your husband?

It's already snack time....popcorn, homemade hot chocolate, apples & pears. We are almost done with school for the day!
You know, I said it earlier, but sometimes homeschooling, and parenting in general is not easy. I have a little trick for kids who talk back or argue...not that my girls would ever do that 😉. Sit ups! Yep, good old fashioned sit ups! If you back talk, argue or are generally disagreeable you do sit ups and if you do not comply immediately, the number required increases. This almost always changes the attitude.
Benefits: Changes the focus off complaining to completing a physical task. Since Mom holds their feet I can look them in their eyes and encourage them and let them know I am disciplining them because I love them & I want them to be righteous in their behavior. Burns some energy to release their out of control emotions. It gets them in shape & wears them out. 😉
I find this works. And I don't get into a battle of words or set up a battlefield between us. Also, the siblings watching usually decide to straighten up...no one else wants to do sit ups. 😉
Do you have strategies for discipline that work for you? Not that your children ever talk back or argue. 😉

Homeschool lunch...leftover roast, potatoes & carrots, home canned green beans & sautéed zucchini. I love staying home and homeschooling my girls, but to be honest it is not always easy. We've struggled to find a schedule that works and always seemed to be scrambling to fit in all the things we felt like we should. We'd end the day frustrated, exhausted and often irritated with each other...not exactly how you want to greet Daddy when he gets home. And not very glorifying to the Lord.
I spent quite a bit of time in prayer about this because I knew the Lord didn't want this kind of life for us. I've also really tried to pay attention to our natural rhythms...things like what time of day works best for certain activities. The girls and I talked honestly about what was working and what wasn't.
And this week we finally found our rhythm. We are spending time in the Word each day without feeling rushed, getting our list done, feeling accomplished and even found time to play & work on special projects. It's working!!! The girls even said they were a bit sad the weekend will interrupt this school day schedule. 😊
It has been amazing to see how attitudes have changed also. We are more relaxed, patient and loving to one another. Thank you Lord for leading us to a rhythm in our day which is bearing wonderful fruit! I am looking forward to school and weekday life with joy!

Homeschool lunch. Y'all my girls have no idea what a public school lunch is...they had baked potatoes and homemade chicken tenders for lunch. 😉 l love being with them all day, learning & working, laughing and sometimes crying, creating and playing, making music. I'm so thankful for this hard job of mine. Thank you Robbie for making a way for me to be home taking care of our home & our girls! You are such a wonderful husband & daddy!

Sitting here after a full day of traveling & sharing our music ministry. We got to share an unexpected supper with some of our best friends on the way home. We are in the post ministry crash. When you do ministry you are so pumped up for a couple of hours after the service & then you crash....😊. So here I am after a good hot shower, snuggled up on the couch with a blanket, a cup of sleepytime tea and my favorite people watching Facing the Giants. God is so good! It's been an awesome day!
Running a sound check for a ministry luncheon at Kinlaw's Welcome Grill in Fayetteville, NC! What a wonderful day to encourage folks who are serving the Lord! Who are you encouraging today?
